Thiopental Sodium

Thiopental Sodium is a short acting barbiturate with sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant properties. Average adult dosage is 0.5-1.0g(Sodium salt) in ampoule powdered for injection. It produces a brief anaesthesia for about 15 minutes. Just like other barbiturates, the mode of action of Thiopental sodium is by binding with the distinct binding site of GABA-A receptor.
